Demand to decrease visa fees to malaysia

Kathmandu, Dec. 19: The Nepal Foreign Employment Entrepreneurs’ Association has demanded that a diplomatic initiative be taken to withdraw the decision of the Embassy of Malaysia to increase the VISA fees for people willing to go for employment to the country.

Speaking at a press conference organized here on Thursday, Association Chair Bal Bahadur Tamang said the decision to increase the fee from Rs. 700 to Rs. 3,900 was unjustified and also demanded the cancellation of the recognition of some medical centres in the capital to carry out medical checkup of the aspirants foreign employment workers.

According to information shared at the programme, the Association has also handed over memorandum protesting the increment in visa fee to the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Labour and Employment and Home, and the Chief Secretary and the Embassy of Malaysia in Kathmandu.

Malaysia is one of the most attractive destination for foreign employment to Nepali youths, with some 150,000 reaching there annually, according to the Association. RSS
