Pokhara street festival from december 28

Pokhara, Dec. 19: The Pokhara Street Festival is to be held from December 28 to January 1 as part the Christmas 2013 and New Year 2014 celebrations, aimed at attracting more domestic and foreign tourists to the lake city.

The festival will be hosted in some three kilometers area in the street near the bank of Fewa lake, according to President of the Restaurant and Bar Association of Nepal, Pokhara Gopi Bahadur Bhattarai.

The street festival in Pokhara began 15 years ago targeting tourists in Goa of India and Thailand but now we have more domestic tourists coming to observe this annual event, added Bhattarai.

“Lets eat, dance and enjoy in the street” is the slogan for this year’s Pokhara Street festival that also targets to development Sauraha, Lumbini and Pokhara as a triangle tourist destination.

Apart from restaurants setting up their outlets in the street itself, the festival will also see cultural events, sports and entertainment programmes, said the festival organising committee coordinator Balram Pahari. RSS
