Solukhumbu, Dec. 19: Normal life in and around district headquarters, Salleri, has been adversely affected due to chilling cold these days.

Locals are worrying with unexpectedly changed monsoon since three days back. A thick fog, slight rain and cold wave have worsened the district monsoon these days.

Owing to growing effect of chilly cold, locals have confined themselves inside home and kept their cattle in shed for past three days, said Dorji Sherpa, a local. Among the most affected are children and elderly people, said Surya Thulung.

People are seen sitting around the fire to get warm with abrupt fall in temperature, he added.

Majority of local people have left the district 15 days ago to avoid intolerable cold and some are still living in village to look after home and feed animals, it is learnt.

Locals normally go to pilgrimage sites in different places during the cold season. RSS
