Kathmandu, Dec. 16: The Election Commission has extended the deadline for the political parties to submit the final list of the winning candidates under the Proportional Representation by ten more days.
Accordingly, the parties can now submit the list of the winning candidates under the PR system of the CA elections 2013 by December 25, according to EC Spokesperson Bir Bahadur Rai.
Earlier, the meeting of the major political parties held at the residence of NC President Sushil Koirala this morning had decided to request the EC to extend the deadline by a week.
This is the second time that the deadline has been extended. Earlier, the original deadline of December 10 had been extended to December 18, also at the request of the political parties. RSS
Rs 4.84 billion spent in CA polls
The Election Commission (EC) has said that Rs 4.84 billion has been spent so far as per the preliminary report in the recently held Constituent Assembly (CA) polls.
At a press meet Monday, spokesperson of the EC Bir Bahadur Rai said the final details of the expenditure of the CA polls would be made public after the Offices of the Election Officers and District Election Offices send the expenses details.
The EC said that a total of Rs 4.75 billion under basket fund through Nepal Peace Trust Fund and Rs 3 billion from different governments was received for the CA elections.
A total of 9,516,724 votes were cast under the first-past-the-post electoral system and 90,44,898 votes were valid.
Similarly, out of 9,776,000 votes cast under proportion representation electoral system, 9,463,862 votes were valid. The invalid votes were 312,841. RSS
