Government eager to handover power to new leadership: minister poudel

Kathmandu, Dec. 15: Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Prasad Poudel has said that the present government was looking forward to handing over the leadership to the people’s representatives.

Speaking at a ‘national education journalism’ prize and fellowship distribution programme organized jointly by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) and Department of Education here today, Minister Poudel said he wished that the constituent assembly is formed soon and the initiative taken to form the new government.

“Our responsibility will be over after we hand over the leadership to the new government, and we are looking forward to it”, he said.

Minister Poudel, who is also the Minister for Education, said the return in education sector is not in pursuant to the investment and so the government, private sector and the media should work together to resolve the problem.

He however stressed that at least 20 per cent of the total budget should be allocated to the education sector.

Education Secretary Narayan Gopal Malego urged the media persons to support in improving the education sector by disseminating analytical news. RSS
