RS. 4.4 MILLION COLLECTED FROM FIRST SEASON HUNTING IN DHORPATAN

Baglung, Dec. 14: A total of Rs. 4.4 million has been collected as revenue in the first season of hunting at the Dhorpatan Hunting Reserve, the only hunting reserve in the country.

Hunters from Spain, USA, and Denmark had hunted himalayan Blue Sheep and musk deer from different seven blocks— Sengh, Gustung, Phagune, Barse, and Dogade in the reserve, said Bishwa Babu Shrestha, chief of the hunting reserve.

Some Rs. 4.3 million was collected as hunting revenue in the last season, according to the Reserve.The revenue increased as the office increased the revenue rate in comparison to the last season, said the Reserve office source.  The office had collected a total of Rs. 7.3 million revenue from the both hunting seasons in the previous year.

The office used to charge Rs.  160,000 to 187,000 for blue sheep or musk deer hunting and that rate reached Rs. 180,000 to 320,000 in this season.

The office opens the hunting tender two times in a year. The hunting reserve is a very attractive hunting centre for foreign tourists from across the world.They usually reach the area by chartering helicopters. RSS
