Kathmandu, Dec. 13: Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ram Kumar Shrestha has said that the government was eager to handover the power to the politically elected government.

At a program here Friday, Minister Shrestha said that the current government fulfilled its responsibility and duty of conducting the elections to the Constituent Assembly (CA) and the government was willing to transfer the power to the political force.

Minister Shrestha said that there was no option to resolve the present crisis by promulgating the constitution within a year and expressed confidence that the political parties would move ahead as per the people’s verdict.

He said, “People have not given majority to any of the parties. So, the political parties should move ahead with full consensus and if that is not possible the parties should go for two-thirds majority. Constitution will not be drafted in accordance to a political party’s manifesto.”

On the occasion, CPN (UML) leader Rameshwor Phyual and UCPN (Maoist) leader Ganeshman Pun said that the political parties should move ahead on the basis of consensus and coordination as per the spirit of the comprehensive peace accord. RSS
