Council of ministers: noc gets 1.65 billion

Kathmandu, Dec. 12: The meeting today of the Council of Ministers decided to provide a loan of Rs. 1.65 billion to the Nepal Oli Corporation.

             Accordingly, the Employees’ Provident Fund will contribute Rs. 850 million while the Citizens’ Investment Trust will be providing Rs. 800 million with the Government of Nepal standing as the surety for it, according to GoN spokesperson and Minister for Information and Communications Madhav Prasad Poudel.

             The cabinet also decided to authorize the Ministry of Urban Development to move ahead with the talks with the Asian Development Bank for signing an agreement for an aid worth Rs. 2.42 billion for the Melamchi Drinking Water Supply Project.

             Likewise, the Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communications has been assigned to assume the responsibilities of the Chairman of the Gorkhapatra Corporation, until further arrangement is made. 

             According to Minister Poudel, the government has decided to rent out 16 ropani of land to Kathmandu University for 30 years in order to run a trauma centre in Dhulikhel of Kavre.

             The cabinet today also extended the term of the honorary consul to Mexico and Belgium, and promoted Major of Nepal Army Gehendra Lal to the post of Colonel.

             Similarly, the post of resources persons under the Department of Education has been decreased to 1,055 from 1,075 and a decision was taken to approve the Regulations relating to Casino and to establish the Kathmandu Office of the Department of Labour and Foreign Employment, added Poudel.
