Kathmandu, Dec. 11: The Ministry of Local Development has enforced the Environment-friendly Local Governance Framework 2070 from Wednesday.
Information to this regard was provided at a press conference at the Ministry.
The framework was brought to implement the existing laws and policies on environment protection, waste management, climate change resilience and risk mitigation. Simple and measurable indicators are prepared to look into the environment friendly atmosphere from household to the district level.
Secretary at the Ministry, Shant Bahadur Shrestha, said that the framework brought into operation includes not only government and ministry but also the civil society, NGOs and international donor agencies.
The frame is categorized into three types- primary, developed and special, and it could be changed as per the need.
He further said government was declaring Ilam ‘a green city’ as per the special indicator.
Similarly, anther Secretary Gopi Krishna Khanal said the village and wards achieving the indicators would be provided green stickers. RSS
