Mugu, Dec. 10: A six-point Mugu Declaration was released here Tuesday calling for an end to the Chaupadi customs widespread in the district.
The Declaration was made public at the end of the 16-day International campaign against Violence against women prepared jointly by representatives of government and non-government organizations.
Chauadi is as an age-old custom where women are usually kept away from the family and especially in nearby cowsheds during menstruation. In the Declaration, the activists have also expressed the commitment to free the Rowa VDC of Chaupadi in the next six months. RSS
