Kathmandu, Dec. 9: Eighteen political parties including the UCPN-Maoist have decided to not submit the list of members to be elected under the proportional system of CA election to Election Commission. They have instead called for an investigation of the alleged vote rigging.

At the meeting held at the UCPN-Maoist headquarters in Koteshwor on Monday, Maoist leader Barsha Man Pun said the meeting decided not to send the name list for the proportional quotas to the Election Commission before proper investigation on the rigging in November 19 CA election.

“We’ve decided not to join the new CA if a commission to probe the rigging is not formed,” he said, accusing the government, Election Commission and other political parties of not heeding to the demand.

According to him, the parties were for forming a federal democratic alliance and launching agitation through it. Party Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has been requested to lead the alliance.

Similarly, General Secretary of the Sanghiya Samajbadi Party, Rajendra Shrestha, expressed concern over the efforts being made to amend Article 59 of the Interim Constitution. It was not time to amend constitution unilaterally, he argued. RSS
