Kathmandu, Dec. 2: Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) has demanded 37 percent seats in the new Constituent Assembly based on the population of the indigenous people.

Organizing a news conference in the capital city on Monday, the NEFIN said there should be 50 percent participation of the indigenous women in the women’s quota of the CA.

In a press release the NEFIN issued, it has voiced for the implementation of the past agreements relating to the representation of the indigenous people in the state mechanisms. It also warned of stir if the demands were not addressed.

At the press conference, NEFIN Chairman Nagendra Kumal said the NEFIN was firm on its agenda.

The demand of the indigenous people was not ethnic state but identity, he argued. RSS
