ADAPTATION PROGRAMME LAUNCHED IN MUGU

Mugu, Nov. 30:  Climate Change Cooperation Programme Nepal has launched an adaptation programme aiming to lessen the effects of climate change in five VDCs in Mugu district with an investment of 45 million rupees.

The VDCs where the programme was launched are Ruga, Rowa, Mangri, Jima and Sukadhik, said the District Development Committee.

Gender-based programme, women empowerment programme, social inclusion programme, skill enhancement programme, natural and biological diversity conservation programme and alternative energy  promotion programme are included under this project, said Dinesh Acharya, programme officer.

The programme is launched with the assistance provided by DFID (UK-based project), European Union and United Nations Development Programme and will continue until 2015.

As many as 1,999 families will be directly benefited from this programme.

Likewise, preparation has been made to launch this programme in other 14 districts in Mid-Western and Far-Western Development Regions and will be expanded to other districts in the near future, it is learnt. RSS
