People’s Awareness Necessary for Rights to Information:Minister Paudel

Lalitpur, Nov. 29: Minister for Information and Communications, Madhav Paudel, has said citizens’ awareness is a must for enforcement of the right to information.

Speaking at an interaction on Citizens’ Awareness for Rights to Information organized by Media Advocacy Group here on Friday,  he said the government and other stakeholders should take the initiative.

He said the environment to settle the political impasse was created in the country and expressed the hope that the new elected government would make the media sector more dynamic.

During the occasion, Minster Paudel had also released a book on Citizens’ Awareness for Rights to Information.

Similarly, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Home, Shanker Koirala, said many people were deprived of their right to information as they lack proper knowledge to this end.

Legal practitioner, Kashi Raj Dahal, said the citizens have not been able to enjoy their rights to get information though the state has already brought a law regarding right to information. RSS
