‘Tourism is basis of economic progress and prosperity’

Gorakha, Nov. 29: UCPN (Maoist) leader and former Prime Minister, Dr Baburam Bhattarai, has said that there was no alternative to developing tourism for the economic progress and prosperity of the district.

Stating that that the importance of the district which is rich in history and heritage has not been publicized in the world, he stressed the need of implementing the plans formulated for tourism development.

The former Prime Minister said that investment from both the government and the private sector should be mobilized for the development of tourism. He said his emphasis would be on modernization of agriculture by providing irrigation facilities from the different rivers that flow through the district.

He also stressed the need of solidarity among all the political parties for the development of tourism in the district.

Bhattarai, who was elected from a constituency of the district in the Constituent Assembly election held on November 19, expressed this view while meeting with voters at Gorakha Municipality, Finam, Nareshwar, Taple, Ashrang, Borlang, Bungkot, Namjung, Ghairung and Taklung areas on Thursday. He toured his constituency to thank voters.

He also went to his village of Khoplang and met with locals. RSS
