Kathmandu, Nov. 28: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala and Chairman of the CPN-UML Jhalanath Khanal have agreed to work in unison regarding the formation and leadership of the new government and constitution writing.

At the meeting held at the residence of NC President at Maharajgunj on Thursday, UML Chairman Khanal proposed the NC President Koirala to lead the new government, for it became the largest political party after the Constituent Assembly election. “NC has become the biggest political party with votes, so it obviously leads the government,” Chairman Khanal said with the media persons following the meeting.

Chairman Khanal expressed such view at a time when the curiosity was raised on which party was to lead the government.

According to leader Khanal, internal agreement would be made for the development of the country including the mechanism of the CA and constitution writing.

After the November 19 CA elections, Nepali Congress has emerged the largest party with 105 seats out of 240 under the first-past-the-post system of election. The NC is also leading the proportional election. Similarly, the UML became the second largest party security 91 seats in the FPTP category. It is also in the second position in the PR system of election.

“We prioritize constitution writing and forge consensus among the parties in the CA and out of the CA,” added Chairman Khanal. RSS
