
Khajura (Banke), Nov. 27: As much as 82 thousand hectares of arable land is devoid of irrigation facility in 15 districts of the Mid-western Region.
Hence, farmers have to depend on rain for cultivating crops on this land and the yield is also low.
Only 141 thousand hectares of the 223 thousand hectares of arable land in the region is irrigated, according to the Regional Irrigation Directorate.
The Midwest Region Irrigation Directorate stated that a programme is underway for providing irrigation facility to about 10 thousand hectares of the total 82 thousand hectares of land devoid of irrigation facility. This programme will be completed next year, it is learnt. RSS
