Kathmandu, Nov. 3: The Election Commission (EC) is now busy in final preparations in view of the management of the Constituent Assembly (CA) election going to be held on November 19.

Talking to RSS, Election Commissioner Dolakh Bahadur Gurung said some districts have already received the election materials including ballot papers and voters’ name list while some are in the process of getting them.

The Commission is likely to wrap up the election preparations soon, he said.  “Only a sort of field-level task remains to be done,” he said referring to the voting and poll results.

Commissioner Gurung who recently visited Rupandehi, Palpa, Arghakhanchi, Gulmi, Kapilvastu, Nawalparasi and Chitwan districts in course of monitoring the election-related activities, said people are eagerly waiting for the November 19 election.

During the visit, he held discussions with the respective chief election officers, election officers, security representatives, voters, and political party representatives about the election matters.

“People want political stability, peace, and development of the country with the successful completion of the CA election on time,” he said. The Commission is committed to holding the election in a free, fair and impartial atmosphere with guarantee of full security, he added.

Voters are the supreme power during the election, they are like gods of the political parties and candidates during the election time and candidates are asking them for votes with high respect by reaching their (voters’) doorsteps.

Despite few incidents of the violation of election code of conduct, their impact is not serious, he said, adding “During the monitoring, I found no wall painting, placing of party banners and other activities breaching the election code of conduct.” RSS
