Kathmandu, Oct. 5: UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the role of media persons was vital for making the forthcoming Constituent Assembly election successful.

Inaugurating the Krishnasen News Service brought into operation with a focus on the forthcoming CA election at the party central office at Parisdanda Saturday, he said the role of the media persons was crucial to ensure the victory of the pro-people forces in the election and for formulation of a pro-people constitution.

He said a negative publicity was being spread with the objective of weakening the pro-people forces and it is the responsibility of the media persons to strongly retaliate against this trend, he said.

“Conspiracies are afoot at present to weaken the force that led the people’s movement and to make it capitulate, this scheme is being done in Hitler’s style and it is the responsibility of the media persons to stand up to such schemes,” Dahal said.

The UCPN (Maoist) chairman said that nobody could now stop the CA election as the process for the same has already moved ahead.

He declared that a pro-people constitution would not be possible and the socio-economic standard of the people would not rise unless the UCPN (Maoist) secured a complete majority seats in the CA after the election, stressing the need for unity and collaboration among the pro-people forces.

Party spokesman Agni Prasad Sapkota said that the election campaign would be taken forward in a simple language which the people can understand easily. Special attention would be given to the development and growth of the media sector while formulating the party’s election manifesto, he added.

He said that the party would take special initiatives for having provisions enshrined in the inalienable articles of the constitution recognizing the media as the fourth estate. RSS
