Birgunj, Oct. 4: An unidentified group has shot at Mahammad Alam, a candidate of the first-past-the-post election from the CPN (UML) from Bara Constituency No. 4 this morning.
Alam was seriously injured in the incident that took place at 11:30 am.The injured Alam is undergoing treatment at Birgunj-based National Medical College and preparation is underway to take him to Kathmandu for further treatment. The group fired at Alam at Chainpur in Bara district along the Birgunj-Pathlaiya highway. An eye witness said that two unidentified persons riding on a motorcycle with Indian number plated shot at Alam.
Alam has received bullet injuries on his forehead and his health condition is serious, according to the National Medical College. According to the District Police Office, Bara, search for the unidentified persons is underway and police personnel have been deployed in different suspected places. RSS
