Cattle smuggling up in Mahottari

Gaushala, 18 Dec- Cattle smuggling via open India border along the Mahottari district has increased.

According to locals residing in bordering areas, the cattle smuggling which was almost non-existent with security activism from both the countries is now increasing.

The western and southern bordering areas have been mostly used for cattle smuggling to India.

The smuggling has not been undeterred though the Armed Police and Nepal Police personnel deputed for maintaining law and order in border area of the district said that checking smuggling is in their priority.

The Indian border security personnel had seized 100 cows, 13 bulls and 17 he-buffalos beign smuggled from birder checkpoint within a week.

Locals said that daily 200 to 300 cattle are being smuggled via Indian borders of Mahottari. RSS
